Many people are daunted at the thought of getting a website created for their business. And are scared off at the thought of how much it might cost.
But the fact is that the days of the web designer charging £2000 for a 4 page website are long gone, indeed I can create a 4 page website for as little as £350 which also includes hosting and domain name registration.
A website can be one of the cheapest forms of marketing a business, as once it goes live the only additional cost to the owner is the renewing of the webspace and domain name for as little as £40 per year. Compare that to the cost of reprinting brochures and catalogues etc.
Using search engine friendly website design techniques I can now create a web site that can be found on all major search engines, this does not guarantee you will be on the first or second pages of a search engine, but you can be sure I will do my best to get it ranked as high as I possibly can.
The development process of creating a website isn't as intimidating as you may think, indeed a 5 page website typically takes between 5 - 10 days to create.
The following is a rough run through of the Development Process :-
1. Initial meeting and discussion
2. Rough design is drawn up
3. Project brief is written (if necessary)
4. The cost of the site is finialised and contract is signed
5. You provide the content for the site i.e. text and images
6. Design phase goes through 2 - 3 tweaking phases
7. All pages for site are created.
8. You can view site whilst being it is being created
9. Re-iteration of design allows fine tuning;
10 Web site is uploaded to your own web space
11. Final payment is made and site is signed off.
It doesn't have to cost the Earth, as I recently found out when completing a website for a client in Edinburgh:-
